Jelly made with beet juice and jell-o.

Tropical Fusion Jelly or Blackberry Fusion JellyI came up with this jelly to use strained beet juice leftover from when I made pickled beets. I like it because it is a new and different flavor of jelly.

Keeping Puppies Out of TrashPuppies are naturally curious and scent-driven, which makes your kitchen trash can irresistible to them. Keep them out by pouring a scant cap full of ammonia into the can. I only had to do this a few times for my pup.

Jolie (Chihuahua)

Jolie (Chihuahua)Angelina 'Jolie' is a 6 year old Chihuahua. She was our housewarming present to ourselves when she was 5 weeks old! She was the runt of the litter, and unwanted by others because she was a deer head instead of an apple head.

Scenery: Burgh Historical Park (Southfield, MI)I try to go to Burgh Historical Park at least once a week to look at the flowers. Each week, something is starting to bloom. The park is located in Southfield, MI and it is the perfect place for a wedding or for just relaxing.

Save Extra Jar and Bottle Lids as ReplacementsI got tired of misplacing or losing the lid or cap to a bottle or jar. I put a small bowl on the kitchen counter. In it I keep spare lids and caps from some of the things we use. I don't keep a lot but keep enough so that a misplaced or broken lid or cap can be replaced.

Dog in blanket.

Sweetie-Pie (Chihuahua Mix)Sweetie-Pie is approximately 13 years old. She is a Chihuahua mix. Sweetie pie is the resident dog at the Avian Rescue, where I volunteer. She likes to be petted and cuddled, and she sleeps a lot, also supervises all activities all actions concerning the care of the birds.

Patriotic Frame

Patriotic FrameThis unique frame in a frame is embellished with any kind of decoration you want. Mine happened to be Americana for the 4th. You can pick Christmas, Valentine's Day, and so forth. With a bit of time and effort, you too can have this unusual frame for/of your loved one.

Building Thunderstorm (Benson, MN)

Building Thunderstorm (Benson, MN)I am a NWS trained skywarn/storm chaser in Minnesota. There were no warnings out so I went out to the grill and then yelled for my husband to bring the camera. This had passed us, so I had photos of the back side of the storm heading for Minneapolis area.

Turn Sports Bra Into a Cute TopI am not comfortable just wearing a sports bra as a top so I put a big hair bow on it to make it look different and then tie up the straps behind my neck like a halter. I like to wear it this way and it is cooler than a shirt.

My Frugal Life: Science LabAs a school teacher and the wife of a soldier with whom I have raised 7 children, cutting corners and making things last and S T R E T C H is nothing new. I have resized, reshaped, and revived hand-me-downs to supplement clothing budgets.

Use Blanket Instead of WheelbarrowIf you normally use a wheelbarrow to move mulch, dirt, compost or weeds, try an old bed sheet instead. Lay the sheet open on the ground and rake or throw the mulch, dirt or weeds onto it then grab three corners and drag the whole bundle to its new location.

NE Scotland

Scenery: NE ScotlandWe are so lucky to live within walking distance of our beach. The town can be seen in the distance and off to the right there is a small river flows out to sea; the dunes and golf course are adjacent and provide such varied walks.

Blue Flowers In VermontI just love these bright blue flowers.

Keep Cats From Digging in GardenCats like soft soil and will make a bee line for where you've just been digging. Dig a hole, blow up a balloon, and bury it in the hole. When the cat comes to inspect the nice soft soil, thinks this is a nice place, and starts digging, bang!

Dog on bed.

Shiva (Shepherd/Husky Mix)Shiva is a 4 Month old Shepherd Husky mix. I found puppies on Kijiji and she was delivered to me from New Hamburg, Ont. She likes to do what every puppy loves to do. Chew stuff up.

Frying Pan Bird BathBeing frugal pays off in so many ways. I could not throw my old frying pan, knowing I could find a use for it. I finally used it as a bird bath and a garden accent.

Use Bag of Water to Keep Items SubmergedI am always trying to find items in the cabinet that can be used more than once. I was faced with trying to find an item to help me keep my peppers that I was pickling submerged in the solution rather than rising to the top.

Use Dish Soap on Outside Of Campfire PansWhen camping and cooking over the campfire, rub liquid dish soap on the outside of the pans. During cleanup, the soot from the fire will wipe right off and not ruin your pans.

Touch Up Old Picture with MarkerI had found an old framed oil painting of a bowl of flowers by a window in the trash when a neighbor moved. The picture was sort of nice, so I hung it in the bathroom. I had the idea of "mashing up" the colors on the picture. What did I have to lose?

Store Bead Boxes in Stackable Paper TraysMost of us beaders have a lot of plastic multi-slotted storage boxes and they get heavy. Pulling one from a stacked group can be difficult with the chance of an avalanche. I have been able to obtain good quality plastic paperwork stacking trays at yard sales.
