Recipes

sliced Gluten Free White Bread

Gluten Free White BreadThis is a fantastic recipe for homemade gluten free bread made in bread machines. I've found a lot of the pre-made gluten free loaves out there really need a lot of toppings to mask how dull they are. This loaf comes out super moist and delicious.

Pressure Cooker Lemon Blueberry Muffins cooling on rack

Pressure Cooker Lemon Blueberry MuffinsThese muffins will not heat up your kitchen in the summer. They have a denser texture than the cake-like muffins baked in an oven. They are sweet, tasty and surprisingly filling. Any substitutions I made are in parentheses.

A Facebook group for Nassau County, NY.

Buy and Sell Locally on FacebookMany communities have their own Facebook groups where you can buy and sell. You will not have the selection you would on eBay, but you will save on shipping. I have bought and sold successfully this way.

Several bags of cut and washed potatoes, ready for freezing.

Freezing Red PotatoesWe planted a row of red potatoes in our garden. I finished digging them up and prepared them for freezing. This is my first time freezing potatoes. I'm hoping to use them in several different recipes. Wish me luck.

A printed pillow sham in a quilted pattern.

Buy Faux Quilts to Save MoneyI love quilts so much because they are not only warm, but they are colorful and useful, and they are a part of our history. I was at Walmart and I found this colorful pillow sham and I had to buy it. The sham looks like a quilt but is not sewed like a quilt, but rather just a print.

A rock painted with a red strawberry.

Painted Rock Plant MarkersMy daughter made me these strawberry markers for Mother's Day. She painted them with acrylic paints, then sprayed them with clear coat so that they could go outside. I absolutely love them and hope to make more for other plants in the garden.

A dragonfly on a leaf after a rainfall.

Take Photographs After A RainfallI was admiring the beauty of nature at Cat Island Park in Elizabethton, TN. The rain began to fall, and I waited in my car. The day was hot and muggy and humid. After the rain finished, I walked down the trail and started looking for any photo opportunities, and I was glad to find this beautiful dragonfly.

Blocking a caller on an iPhone.

Blocking Unwanted Calls on an iPhoneI don't answer phone numbers I'm not familiar with. I'll research the number online before blocking. This number shown above is a scam number and others have experienced calls from this number, too. If you have an Apple iPhone, it's very easy to block and you won't be harassed by these calls anymore.

Paint Strainers to Protect Grapes

Paint Strainers to Protect GrapesTo protect your grapes from insects, bugs, and birds while still allowing them to get water and sunlight, use these paint strainers. They are sold at your home improvement store for $2.50 for a 2 pack. We just staple the closure shut and this paint strainer cloth is reusable.

A finished puzzle of a waterfall in autumn.

Take Photos of Finished PuzzlesI love to put together puzzles. I only buy what will be done and displayed on my walls. I used to seal the fronts with clear strapping tape and the back with duct tape thinking they would be on my walls forever. Well they lasted a long time but eventually they all began to yellow and crack. So today I had to give some of my favorites to the donation station in our community room.

Questions

Patio Tomato Not Blooming?I bought a patio tomato plant for a large container on my porch. It had 1 small tomato on it when I got it, but has never had any other blossoms nor has it gotten much bigger. Otherwise the plant is healthy, no bugs, and I am not overfeeding it. I have grown tomatoes for years and never had this problem.

A hydrangea bush that is blooming at the bottom more than at the top.

Hydrangea Blooming More Near Bottom of Plant? My hydrangeas bloomed beautifully this year. They didn't bloom last year, but I heard that from many people. However, they are bottom heavy and not shaped very nicely. The first photo was taken on 6/16/17 and the second photo on 6/26/17.

Identifying Bed and Breakfast Bath Towels

Identifying Bed and Breakfast Bath Towels?Almost a year ago, we visited a bed & breakfast in Pennsylvania. They had the most wonderful bath towels, the quality I've not seen for years! Please look at the photo (I am that serious about their quality, I took a pic for just this purpose!)

2 Year Old Dog Peeing and Pooping Inside? Why does one of my dogs pee and poo over night and at odd times pee on my rug? The dog that is doing this is 28 months old. The other one is 8 years old and is spotless. They are both Bichons.

Previously House Trained Dog Going Inside?I have a 2yr old male Shih Tzu that was previously house trained, but has reacently started going to the toilet indoors since we got a female puppy of the same breed. How can I take control of the situation and have him house trained again as everything I seem to try doesn't seem to work?

Zucchini Plants Growing Slowly?I planted new seeds in the middle of May and for some reason the leaves on some of the plants are thick. I got my first flower on one of them today. I have never had this problem. I rotated, bought good seeds, added horse manure, fish emulsion, and milk, but nothing seems to get them to sprout up more.
