13th Birthday Party Ideas

My daughter's turning 13 and I don't know what to do! She turns 13 on Friday, July 13th. She wants to take a couple of friends to Six flags or water country. I'm skeptical on this because, well...big park, lots of people - 1 adult... plus the money.

My thought was to have her have 5 friends sleepover (as usual), plan for a pool party that night and next day (as usual) but then surprise her with a limo and dinner Friday night, then come home to freaky, scary movies that they all love to watch! (since it is Friday the 13th!). Downfall, I know the limo and dinner will cost a quite a bit of money too.

Any other idea's? Always open to suggestions.

I think if you daughter wants to go to Six Flags with a couple of friends, you should respect what she wants to do. You can get discount coupons from the grocery stores and pack a big picnic where you can get your hand stamped and go out to the car to eat lunch. Our Six Flags has a water park included in it. They also have refillable mugs that you can buy for 6 or 7 dollars each and refills are only $1 or $2. That should last them.
Then let her have her friends spend the night, pop some popcorn and watch those horror flicks! The whole thing should be around $100. Lots cheaper than a limo and dinner out! (06/22/2007)

For my 13th birthday I'm going to stay at a hotel room and go out to a really fancy dinner. I'll have the guests (4 or 5 girls) dress really fancy. We will have a limo pick us up at the hotel and go to dinner. Hope that helped! (06/22/2007)

Movie Mania Party (Sleepover)

Each attendee gets a Goodie Pail (Dollar Store).

Each Pail contains - a bag of un-popped microwave popcorn and a can of soda, and an assortment of fun girlie things such as lip gloss, hairclips, ribbons, hair brush, funky nail buffer, nail polish, eye shadow, liquorice, candy bar, a teen magazine etc.

Have 5 suitable DVD's for the girls to "vote" on.

Set the DVD covers up and in front of each movie, place a cup or small bowl.
To Vote, each girl is given 10 pennys, they get to vote with the pennys putting them in the bowl of the movie they want to see. The movie with the most pennys in the bowl at "showtime" gets played.

Intermission is the end of the first movie, at which time you could serve birthday cake, sodas, or whatever, and the attendees could give the Party Girl her presents, pop some more popcorn and on to the next feature.

The Goodie Pails including all the fun stuff will probably run you about $60.00 at the Dollar Store. I am not up on movie rentals, but if they are $3.00 each to rent, that's another $15.00, with cake, sodas, and munchies about $120 in total. Not bad really, and I can tell you the Girls will have fun.

My Sister did this for her birthday recently. She actually had sidewalk chalk at the end of the walk way up to the house, so guests could draw their "Star" on the Sidewalk of Fame. It was a riot, we had the best night. By the way, my Sister was 42yrs old!

If you bank with Chase Bank, you can get 4 tickets for $99, just took my 13 yr old son there - that's what he wanted. http://www.sixflags.com/national/Tickets/chase.aspx

We tailgated in the parking lot for lunch and dinner (sandwiches, chips, plenty of water and other sports drinks, salads) and never bought a single thing from the restaurants and vendors inside the park, except for the photo of them coming down on the coaster that the park's computer automatically takes. That way he had a momento. Happy Bday kiddo! (06/23/2007)

Well maybe your daughter would like to go to the mall for a shopping date with her and her friends, then after they could probably go to Great Wolf Lodge located in Kansas City, Mo (if your already located in KC then you should be able to find it easily). You could either stay the night there or just swim there and then go out to dinner where ever she likes to go. If you go to Great Wolf Lodge then they will already have breakfast, lunch and dinner there at the lodge. They have an inside and outside pool, a kid spa and an adult spa, an arcade, and alot of more fun things to do there. (06/27/2007)

Don't go bowling because it goes really quick and is boring! For my friends party we are camping in her back garden. For my birthday party I had 6 friends over to my house and we got this company called 'Pamper Me' to come. Each person got to chose 2 beauty treatments like nails painted, makeover, mini facail, and a few others. While we were waiting for our treatments we made non-alcoholic cocktails and had a foot spa! It was great!

I was going to tell you to do something scary, because of friday the 13th until you said that! Maybe you can stick with that theme and have a murder mystery/ bloody birthday bash theme! You know, everyone comes dressed up to look dead, Blood and Bones dinner ( Ketchup and chicken fingers) a live clue game in your house, and a whole lot of fun for the family and friends! I hope I can help, and if anyone has any ideas for my daughter's thirteenth birthday party i would appreciate your feedback! (07/04/2007)

13th Birthday Party Ideas

Hey! I'm also turning thirteen soon, and am celebrating my birthday with one of my best friends since her birthday is near to mine. I think throwing a party with another person is a good idea because then you can split the cost and it doesn't end up being too pricey.

Anyway, since we have around 50 people on our guest list, we are renting the teen center at a nearby YMCA. The teen center near us has a dance floor, large sound system that your daughter can play all of her favorite music on, a variety of different video games like the Nintendo Wii, Ps2, and DDR, and also games like pool, foosball, and air hockey. It is also a pretty large room, and it's really not that expensive to rent. You can usually pick up a brochure at the teen center if you have one near you.

Hope this helped! Good luck, and happy birthday to your daughter. Adriana

A party idea

You can still surprise her with a limo ride but instead have the limo drive her home and just have something like pizza. (10/19/2007)

You could always do a big cook out at a park and rent out a shelter and play games. Like set up a volleyball net or something and decorate the shelter with something simple. As for the cook out...look at amazon.com and then search gourmet foods. They have pretty good prices and I have heard that the food is good. And if you rent out a shelter at a park you can invite a lot of people because there will probably be a lot of space. After the park party have your daughter invite a few friends back over to your house to sleepover. Since her birthday is in July (depending on where you live) you might want to pick one of the cooler days in July.

And if she doesn't want to do this party, you could always ask another family member to acompany you to the six flags theme park. That will be another set of eyes to keep watch over your daughter and her friends. My friend did her thriteenth birthday at Islands of Adventure and there were four girls including her and she had bought orange and yellow t-shirts and went to a place and had some design printed on them so we could all easily keep track of each other. Talk to your daughter about the money situation and then ask her if she has any alternative ideas. Maybe instead of the sleepover just do the limo and dinner. Or have the limo pick up each of the girls at their houses and take them to your house. Have at least one parent for each girl come, dressed in black and white, and put on a fancy, fun, (inexpensive) dinner for the girls with their parents as the waiters. You can even have the girls dress up. Good luck! (01/12/2008)

I think that it is wonderful you want to make sure that your daughter will have a great party! Growing up I was very poor now my grandchildren get to see me as the type of grandma that does not like to dwell on the materials of life. So if your daughter is a sweet loving type of girl, I'm sure she would be happy with inviting a few friends over and spending quality time, but hey I'm 80 years old! lol I'm probably a little old school for you but I hope this helps! God bless you! (01/21/2008)

Some companies offer discounted tickets to their employees, you should check for tickets at Costco and check the group rates at six flags. Six girls and 1 adult is sufficient provided you lay down some rules. Go online and get the park layout and have your daughter and her friends plan their day at the park by picking out the rides they will all enjoy, as I have found not every child likes to ride the same rides. Pack a lunch (in a cooler) and return to your vehicle to eat at a pre-arranged time, also bring a cake to sing Happy Birthday to your daughter. (01/25/2008)
