Rescue Chickens

How and when did you get your pet?
My daughter bought the chickens for us from a rescue centre a few weeks ago.

What does your pet like to do for fun?
These ladies are only just starting to learn how to have fun after being kept in tiny cages. They like to hide under bushes and come out to eat grass and scratch around in the autumn leaves.

Do you have anything else to share about your pet?
The photos of Amber and Pearl were taken when they had just arrived. Amber has a very crooked beak with the tip missing. Pearl had only half her feathers. Neither of them knew the difference between day and night. They are a lot brighter, happier, and healthier now and not quite so scared of us. Pearl has most of her feathers back.

Kudos for you and your daughter, your rescued chickens brightened my day. Warmed my heart knowing there are people out there with a heart.

Oh my goodness! They are precious. Thank you for taking in these girls! People take many animals for granted, like chickens. They feel pain, fear, and love like 'normal' pets.

I should know! I received my first pet when I was three, on my family farm. I named my sweet hen, Dibee Dibee and have many fond memories of her! I wish I had a photo to share!

Thankyou. They have yet to get used to the ducks who they find a bit scary, but they have a big grassy area to scratch about in now. I love the name Dibee Dibee
