I think you could pull the gray off pretty good if you added a narrow horizontal strip of paint along the walls about as high as chair railing might go and use tan paint strip above and below the black strip with a little spacing between. This would create a complimentary color arrangement from what you chose for your bathroom and break up a lot of the solid flow of colors.

Another idea to pull the colors together for example is to have a black bath towel, a beige hand towel and a gray wash cloth as a set to match colors used.
