I am a 69 year old woman with salt and pepper hair (leaning more to the pepper). I would like to color my hair but the last two times I have done so I had an allergic reaction to it. My scalp itched and one time it flaked after using.
I had won a free color and highlights from a salon. I would like to even up my hair color at home and perhaps do new highlights. Do I have to color the dark roots and non-highlighted longer hair separately or can I do an all over color in one shade?
My hair is naturally light brown. I want it to be blonde, but I really do not want to use hair bleach or hair color. This summer I tried sitting in the sun for 30 minutes with the juice of a lemon and a spoonful of water combed into my hair.
I naturally have dark hair and am now having to dye it every six weeks in order to keep the grays at bay (I'm probably 5 -10 percent gray). I like dark hairstyles with a few chunky blond highlights around the crown.
My dyed black hair is turning red from an apple cider vinegar hair rinse. I decided to use a vinegar rinse to get rid of the excess shampoo; but now I am getting highlights of red in many parts of my hair that were formerly black.
I read an old request for taking the yellow color from white hair and one person recommended using peroxide mixed into conditioner. Has anyone tried this and what amount should I use? Thanks.
The problem: How do I rinse my hair out good after applying hair color and not splashing it onto my floor, wall and surrounding area? My solution is to rinse my hair under the garden hose.
