When using a pressed powder compact which comes with the powder applicator, the top of the powder gets a hardened slick surface on it. This is caused by storing the powder "puff" applicator in the case next to the powder.
I have found that using contouring powder as part of your make-up routine is tricky and can often look very obvious. The solution is to make sure your face completely dry after applying moisturizer, then apply the contouring powder first, followed by your mineral powder foundation.
To be able to use up solid face powder when just a little is left in the compact and it's too expensive to throw out, do the following outdoors or where you won't mind a little powder blowing about when you open the blender...
I have found an easy way to deal with loose facial powder. I put it in a clean saltshaker, and that way I can sprinkle it onto a powder puff and apply to my face with little waste.
