I am looking for an easy bread machine recipe for white bread.

I have a Regal Kitchen Pro and here is the recipe it has with it. I have made it many many times and it is really good.


Classic White
Basic or Rapid setting okay

For a 1.5 lb loaf:

  • 8-9 ozs water
  • 1 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 TBS butter or margarine
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 2 TBS dry milk
  • 1 TBS sugar
  • 2 tsps active dry yeast

Have all ingredients at room temperature.
(70-80 degrees F)
Measure all ingredients into bread pan. Select desired setting (basic or rapid). Select crust setting. Press Start to begin.

I have substituted the dry milk with creamer before and it worked fine.
If you need another recipe besides this one just say so and I will get the others out of the book and post them for you too.

Bread Machine Recipe For White Bread

This recipe came in the book with my Hitachi bread machine. This bread has a really great flavor and is quick and easy to put together. (My bread machine instructs to add the wet ingredients to the pan first).

  • 7/16 cup tap water
  • 1 cup fresh milk
  • 4 cups bread flour
  • 1-1/2 tsp. salt
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1-1/2 tsp. dry yeast (regular cycle) or
  • 2 tsp. dry yeast (for bread rapid cycle)

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil (I use olive or canola oil)
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 3 1/2 cups white flour

Or you can make whole wheat by using:

  • 2 cups white flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour and
  • 1/2 cup of gluten (available in health food stores)

Just add all this to the bread maker (yeast in the top if there is one) set machine for which ever timing you want. (01/11/2005)

Banana Bread

  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 1/3 cup banana, mashed
  • 1 1/2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 tablespoons honey
  • 1/3 teaspoon salt
  • 1/3 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 1/2 to 3 tablespoons vital gluten
  • 2 1/4 cups whole wheat flour
  • 3/4 cup oats
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons yeast

Add ingredients according to manufacturer's directions. Medium color setting. Makes 1-1/2 lb loaf.

NOTE: Watch the dough as the banana may affect the moisture.
This is the one for banana bread that I have. I use the bread machine flour, I think it's Pillsbury. And I omitted the oats and added in just a bit more flour.

Oops, and I forgot to tell you to add the nuts. I put in pecans. And I have no set amount, it just depends on who all will be eating it. Kids ain't crazy about too many and hubby wants it full of them. (05/24/2005)

Here is another one I just found. I have not tried it yet, just make sure the amt. of ingredients doesn't go over your machine's recommended amounts and it should be fine.
Let me know how it turns out for you. I'm out of pecans for the year and won't get anymore til the trees produce here later in the year, so it will be awhile before I make any.


  • 1/2 cup margarine, softened
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2/3 cup mashed bananas
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans

Spray bread machine pan with vegetable oil spray.
Premix ingredients in order listed. Place mixture in bread machine pan.
Select the Quick Bread/Cake cycle. Press start. Check after 1 minute to see if mixture is well blended.
Cook until cake cycle stops. Remove pan, and cool completely before removing bread from pan.

Recipe from West Bend Automatic Bread and Dough Maker

Basic White Bread

  • 11 1/2 ounces water 75-85 degrees F
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 4 cups bread flour or reg. flour
  • 2 Tbsp. sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. dry milk
  • 1 1/2 or 2 tsp. salt
  • 2 tsp. active dry yeast

Add water and butter to bread pan first.
Mix dry ingredients together, except for yeast, and add to water.
Make a shallow well in center of dry ingredients: add yeast.
Select settings and turn on.

  • 1& 1/3 cups water
  • 2 tsp sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tsp yeast

Try these great tips for better bread in your machine.

The very best book I have on breadmaking is Beth's Basic Bread Book by Beth Hensberger. There is too much information to impart all of it, but these are just a few of her tips:

  • To determine if a loaf is properly risen, press 2 fingers deeply into the dough. If the depression remains, the dough is ready. If is fills in quickly, let rise some more.

  • If you decide to bake it in a pan, be sure to create a proper loaf before placing in the pan (pat out flat to rectangle, turn in ends, roll up) and slash the top of the loaf. Also, always preheat the oven.

  • To see if it is done, insert a thermometer and make sure it reads 190 degrees when you take the loaf out of the oven. Bread will continue to cook after you take it out and is completely done at 212 degrees.

Beth also gives good guidelines for baking breads of various pan sizes and types in her book.

To make sure yeast is fresh and alive, proof it. Here are instructions for proofing:

These are just a few tips. The more you know, the better your bread will be. Beth also has a book especially for Bread Machines. I do not have it, but it has gotten great reviews.

Traditional White Bread (from my Oster machine book)
1 - 1/2 lb loaf

  • 1 c plus 2 T water
  • 1 T butter or margarine
  • 3 cups bread flour
  • 4 T gluten
  • 2 T sugar
  • 1 T dry milk
  • 1 1/2 t salt
  • 2 1/2 t bread machine yeast or regular active dry yeast

Place ingredients in pan in order listed. Bake on either regular white or rapid white setting. (10/09/2008)
