So I have an avocado tree that is still in a pot because it is just a year old. I have two branches growing and one of them broke about 3 inches off and I was wondering if it will survive.

The tree will survive. You could try reattaching the limb with bolts and/or screws. If you choose not to reattach the limb, make sure you clean the wound so it doesn't get infected.
It should. I have had them break off before and they lived.
If the overall plant is healthy then it should live.
If you want to try and save the limb you can try a "band aid" repair. I generally use rolled gauze and wrap it around the rejoined pieces (pretty tight) and then take a couple of longer bread ties and wrap around the gauze to hold it in place.
