I live in the Iowa City area housing market. I am a single mother of two boys. Thanks to my remarkable storage techniques, we have successfully lived in a two bedroom apartment for the last 8 years.

Home Inspection for First Time or New Home Buyers
By Leonard Frick
I have been a home inspection specialist for 35 years. Even with the housing market in as bad a shape that it is, there is still hope. Right now mortgage rates are the lowest they have ever been and this just might be the time for you to buy that home of your dreams.

Tips for First-Time Homeowners
My husband and I are in escrow right now and just signed final loan documents. Lord willing, we will be receiving our key on Monday, 3/2. We have never been homeowners before. We are in our mid-late twenties with an elementary age child.

Creating a Budget for Buying a House
I need to put the money I'm paying for rent into buying a house. Surely if I can afford $750.00 rent, I can pay for a house. However, I need to get a budget plan with contingencies. I currently pay rent $750, car insurance $60, utilities $400, and groceries/gas/misc. approx. $100. My weekly income is $380.

Helping Your Adult Children Buy Real Estate
My husband wishes to get our 4 kids a start with equity. The oldest kid is close to buying a house, though one isn't picked out yet. He's thinking about a duplex to help pay the mortgage. My husband want to help buy 1/2 of it, breaking that 1/2 of it up into the 5 shares that represent the rest of the family. There are so many different situations that I can think of that could complicate this set up.

Have House Inspected Before Buying
With the bad U.S. economy, more houses are now for sale. If shopping for a home, if it was pre-owned, inquire about the sewer, plumbing and if it has a septic tank. Have the seller get the septic tank pumped out before you purchase the property.

Buying A House With One Income
I'm 32 years old, recently divorced and have moved back in with my parents. I currently make close to $41,000 a year. I can't seem to buy a house with only one income. I'm not looking for an expensive house, $79,000. I was wondering does anyone know how I could reach my goal. I have also saved money but if you make $2000 a month, pay school loan, car loan and insurance (close to $800 a month) the house mortgage (close to $900) that leave only $240 left at the end of month. Please help me.

Moving Without Selling Current House
My husband is considering a job in another state that pays a lot more then we are currently making. We live in Michigan. Houses are not really selling. We would be lucky to make what we owe. My question is has anyone else moved to another state and started completely over without selling their old house?
