My Debit Card Was Stolen and Used Online
I have recently had my credit/debit card number stolen and used online. Between May 27-31st over $1000.00 of charges were made. I was alerted to this by a letter from my bank saying that I was .32 cents overdrawn.

No Shredder? Burn Your Personal Paperwork
Clearing out that pile of old bank statements, getting rid of old paystubs or old income tax forms?If you have a paper shredder, you're good to go! I don't have a shredder, but I do have a chiminea!

Dispose of Prescription Bottles Safely
Be especially safe with your old prescription bottles. Be sure and mark through the name of person and drug name with a marker before putting in trash as some people would try to get it filled, especially if it is for a pain pill.

Frozen bank accounts, canceled credit cards, and ruined credit; the tales are frightful. Yet, just as one would protect a wallet full of money, one also needs to protect electronic cash.

Check Online Banking Balance Frequently
Check your online banking frequently! Someone has stolen my debit card and has been taking $75.00 per day from our checking account. I have not used it at any unfamiliar places. They have stolen over $600.00.

Address Labels Can Get Stuck In Shredder
Beware of shredding those free address labels you get in the mail. I had a shredder that previously handled (quite nicely) the address labels - and then it didn't. I'll have to replace the unit.

I.D. Theft Insurance
Be sure to have ID theft insurance. With some insurance companies, you can even add it on to your homeowners policy for a small fee.
