Rent House in Neighborhood Before Buying
Before buying a new house in a new area, first rent a home for a few months in the vicinity you're planning on living. Allow yourself a period of time to see how the area is for you. See what's around the neighborhood if it really is the area for you and your family.

Apartment Hunting Tips
When I search for a new apartment I keep the following things I want in mind: Opt for no corner units as you are heating and cooling 2 walls instead of one and there is no wind-break on corner units. Try choosing a unit in the middle of the building.

Free Carpet Cleaning Wth Your Apartment Lease Renewal
I live in an apartment. My neighbor told me that when a person renews their lease, they can have their carpets shampooed for free. I called the office Tuesday morning and they sent someone the same afternoon. I have lived here for over 4 years and they sure don't advertise this!

Get A Reduction In Rent By Being A Handyman

How much rent can I afford?
I'm looking to move into a new apartment. The problem (aside from not knowing neighborhoods and wanting to get a dog), I'm not sure how to find out how much I can afford for rent. I've been told to take my either net or gross income for a month and subtract my bills, etc. for a month from it.

Apartment Living
If you are able to choose, (and physically able) get an apartment higher than the main floor. This works well for me for two reasons. 1) I have barely had to turn up my heat this winter, my thermostat is set at 50 and my home is usually over 70...
