Where can I buy a possum trap in San Jose, California? It seems they want you to use a service. This is a garden problem.

The brand name is Hav-a-hart or something like that and you can probably order one on line. It is a "catch them alive trap" and you may have to search under that. Opossums are so ugly I feel sorry for them, but they can be a problem. Good luck.
Try hardware stores. They sell them under the Hav a Hart name. You trap the critter then relocate them.
Try Orchard, or Lowe's, or Home Depot. We had them at Orchard here in Gilroy when I worked there early in the century.
Heartland catalog. Great live traps that when snapped shut, stay closed. 10 times better than have a heart. Less expensive too. Heartland.com
DH made one like this. Take the lid off an empty garbage can ( 30/33 Gal)
Place a few sheets of newspaper over the top and tape it down. Place a plank /board on a slant to the top of the can. Put a small paper plate with a spoonful or two of canned cat food on top of the newspaper. The Possum will fall into the can and can't get out. Call your local animal control office and they will come take it away and relocate it for you.
We put a small container of water inside for the animals and some fresh fruit until they were picked up. Good Luck. GG Vi
