Caramel Corn

Ingredients

  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup boiling water
  • 1/4 tsp. cream of tartar
  • 1 Tbsp. butter or margarine
  • 1/2 tsp. soda
  • 5 qts. popped corn

Directions

Stir together the sugar, boiling water, and cream of tartar. Boil slowly until it turns a light brown. Remove from the fire and add butter or margarine and soda. Pour over popped corn. Set pan over low heat and stir until corn is well covered.

Caramel Corn

Here is another recipe for carmel corn--microwave easy.

1 cup brn sugar
1/4 cup white corn syrup
1 stick margarine
1/2 tsp salt
Microwave on Hi for 2 minutes, Stir
Microwave on Hi for 3 minutes, stirring after each of these 3 minutes.
Add 1 tsp vanilla and 1/2 tsp baking soda. Stir well, but not too much.
Have 16 cups of popped corn in large brown grocery bag that has been sprayed with PAM.

Pour syrup over popped corn. Shake to mix. Fold top of bag over a couple times.
Microwave on Hi for 1 minute--shake well
Micro for 1 minute--shake
Micro for 30 seconds--shake
Micro for 30 seconds--shake.
Wait 2 minutes then pour out on a couple cookie sheets that have been sprayed with PAM.
When corn is cool break apart.
ENJOY
Best to use a micro safe container with a handle so you can easily popur syrup over corn. (01/05/2007)
