Caution Using Three Way Adapters

Three Way AdapterI have a beautiful infrared heater, which we love. I had it plugged into these two adapters. I did not know it was wrong to use these together.

This morning there was a bad smell in the house and this is what I found.

I took these two adapters off and now the heater's cord is plugged directly into the orange extension cord.

What you have shown 3 slot/card adapter, it is not a 3 way anything.

Oh My, Oh My, having firemen in my family, extension cord use except for very short term us (like the power tool use along way from the outlet needs the right gauge extension wire cord. If the 3 prong outlet adapter you are showing does not have a grounding 3rd hole in it, don't cheat and use try to make it work.

Having been a state licensed daycare provider a few years back extension cords of any kind could have lost you the license. Fire hazard, no exceptions. Sorry. Plugging a heater in could have cost you your lives.

It has taken a long time to educate my mother on extension cords. And cords have the warnings on them about fire. Unless it becomes a personal experience, people think it is o.k. No, it is not. Please be safe!

WOW your guardian angel is working overtime!

Unplug that heater from that extention cord right now, and DO NOT ever plug it in again!

The heat that melted the adapter you were using in conjunction with the power strip (wow you live dangerously!) Also traveled through the power strip, cords and heater. Those cords and the heater should be discarded IMMEDIATELY because the wires have now been compromised by extreme heat and they still present a fire hazzard!

Contact your local fire station to confirm the above. You are placing your family in the gravest danger by continuing to use compromised power cords and that appliance, you really are.

NEVER, never, never again plug in any electrical device into any outlet or other adaptor or power strip (shudder, adaptor and power strips are fires-waiting-to-happen, using them together is crazy!) Until you fully understand load, wattage, amperage.

Start your learning process here:

I know I sound dramatic and it's for a reason.

You really have the safety of your family and neighbours in your hands every time you use an electrical apparatus. Be a good neighbour from now on.DON'T place your loved ones and neighbours in danger by using electricity in an unsafe manner!

From reading your posts over the years I know you are a good, caring person, so I know you will now study up and learn all there is to know about using electricity safely.

Instructions for our heater state to always plug it directly into a wall outlet/receptacle and to never use with an extension cord or a power
strip.
