Photo: Making Christmas Cookies

I came home after a long tiring day to find my 3 year old grandson decorating the last of the cookies he and his Pappy had made. It was so funny to see him standing on my old milking stool at the counter decorating the last of his cookie stash.

Measure out the dry ingredients to make your holiday pies or cookies, placing them in zip lock bags. Be sure to label with what and how many (two pumpkin pies, 4 dozen lemon cookies, etc) this product is for, and store in the fridge or a cool, dry cupboard.

Use Paper Plate Holders for Pie Transportation

Home baked pies can be messy to transport. If you use a 9 inch pie pan, you can separate and stack your pies by using the plastic paper plate holders made for 9 inch plates. Flip them upside-down and clip the tabs to the pie tin.

Watch Out For Nut Allergies When Making Christmas Goodies

When making candies and other desserts or pastries for gift giving, chopped nuts are a nice extra touch. But be sure that your recipient isn't allergic to them. I have a pal who can eat pecans and peanuts but not walnuts, as she's allergic to walnuts.

Keeping the Counters Clean While Baking

When doing your baking this Christmas season, and always, the mess is so much easier to clean up if you lay out sheets of waxed paper on your counters before you begin. When you are done, most of the mess just picks up with the sheets of waxed paper! Big time saver for me!...

Bar Cookies for the Holidays

To simplify my baking I make a lot of bar cookies. I bought some extra pans at the thrift store, so now I can leave the cookies in the pans until I am ready to cut them and arrange the gift trays. When empty, they nest so they don't take up a lot of room either. By Linda

Cookie Baking Day

When my kids were small, I would bake several batches of cutout type sugar cookies just after Thanksgiving. I used Christmas Theme Cookie cutters and also cut Christmas shapes from cereal box cardboard. I would cut around them with a knife to make unique cookies. I would pack them into freezer containers and freeze them. Then, on the day the kids got out of school for Christmas vacation, I would have the kitchen table set up for them with icings in several colors, chocolate chips, raisins, cinnamon red hots, colored sprinkles and colored sugar, coconut. etc. They spent the afternoon decorating cookies and making gift plates for friends and family. They always looked forward to this day. By Harlean from Arkansas
