| Christmas Dinner Starter Ideas for Three Course Meal
I'm hoping you clever ThriftyFun people can help me out here. I'm making a family dinner for Xmas for 6 people. While I have the turkey and trimmings plus the Xmas pudding all sorted out, I have no idea what to serve as a starter.

| Not Your Usual Turkey Sandwich
By Debra Frick
Now if you are like me, you cooked a turkey that was way to big for your family. Ours was a gift from our son in law, Jose. He bought us a twenty three pound bird and it was way too big, even though we fed a crowd. So for the last couple of days, we have been experimenting with turkey sandwiches.

| Decorate Holiday Cupcakes
I decorate cup cakes with cute little marshmallow holiday treats. I just make my own icing from powdered sugar(1 box), 1 c Crisco, a few tbsp milk and 1 tsp vanilla flavoring. Next I place my ready made Marshmallow treats I purchased at the dollar store on top. They are so cute, easy and look really good on cupcakes with little time and almost NO effort!

| Use Cookie Cutters as Decorating Stencils
If you are as bad as I am at decorating cookies, try using a cookie cutter as a "stencil". Choose a glass/cup/mug that is wider across than your holiday shaped cookie cutter. Use the glass to cut your dough into circular cookies.

| Cook Big Holiday Meals The Day Before
Cook Big Holiday Meals The Day Before. With the big holidays coming, I find when I cook a big meal, I'm too tired to eat. So I make everything possible the day before. Potatoes are peeled, boiled and mashed, dressing is made and baked (when it's done, pour over some chicken broth, cover with foil and it stays moist), turkey is cleaned and placed in the roaster then back in the fridge.

| Contributions to Holiday Meals
We generally contribute to at least three different meals during the Christmas week -- my family, DH's family and church. I take the same food items to all three and it cuts down on the prep work, shopping time, and cooking time. This year...

When making Rice Krispie treats, make sure and rub your hands with a little butter or margarine to make them lay flat in the pan and not stick to your skin.
