Give Older Kids Christmas Money Instead of Presents
If your children are older, give them money for Christmas. Then, take them shopping the day after Christmas. They can get twice as much for the money and get anything they want for themselves. I once knew a family who had six children, and this is how they handled the holiday. It worked very well.

Donation Instead of Greeting Cards
For the last few years I have made a $100 donation to the National Arbor Day Foundation to help restore the rain forest in Central America, instead of sending out Christmas cards to my selected 100 people.

Happy New Year Gifts

Give Consumables To Older Friends or Relatives
If you are wondering what to give older friends/relatives for the holidays, here is an idea: Consumable gifts are always welcome since seniors do not want to get things that will end up collecting dust or ending up in a yard sale!

By Debra Frick
Christmas is a time that sparks the imagination of all who celebrate. As parents we are always looking for things to do the same thing and books can do the trick. Here is an article about shopping in one of my favorite places in the whole wide world. The used, and yes I said used, bookstore.

Christmas Gift for Friend in Army ROTC
I have a friend who is going into Army ROTC, and I need a little help. We have been friends forever, but we aren't boyfriend and girlfriend. I want to give him something, that tells him how good a friend he is, but it can't be too personal.
