Give a Little Getaway Instead of a Gift for Christmas
Wanting to make every dollar count this year at Christmastime and with 6 grown kids, 3 with spouses I decided to approach gift giving a little differently. We used our Air Miles to purchase each one of the couples a $50.00 gift certificate for a dinner out, movie ticket packages that include drinks and popcorn.

Craft: Breakfast Gift Basket
I bought the basket from a garage sale this summer and added a ribbon. The only items that I had to buy was the teapot, and the tea bags. Total cost for making the basket was about $20.00 or less.

Gift Basket For Guys
Having trouble finding the right gift for the men/boys this Christmas? This is my idea. Make a gift basket with a gift certificate to your local video store for a movie/video game rental, popcorn, various candies and sodas.

Inexpensive (Earth Friendly) Christmas Gift
I'm a bit low on money this holiday season, so I was trying to think of homemade gift ideas, and came up with this. It's thrifty, it helps recycle, and it's environmentally safe! All great things! I have a few "recipes" for natural, non-toxic cleaners that I got from a co-op natural foods store.

Gift Baskets for the Holidays
For the holidays we put together a basket of goodies for people. One might have garden tools with jam, cheese and crackers, while others might have some type of cookies. Maybe put in some kitchen scissors. Some of the things you can buy at the Dollar Store for this and get the baskets there as well. Another idea might have a bottle of wine with cheese, crackers, nuts, etc.. These make wonderful gifts. Enjoy the holidays. Dgrams

Fiestas in a Bag
When my avocado tree surprised me with a bumper crop, everyone received custom "fiestas in a bag" gift. In each gift bag I put several avocados, a packet of guacamole seasoning, a large bag of chips and a bottle of margarita mix! You could put in the tequila, too, if appropriate. By Linda

Christmas Basket Food Wrapping?
I have decided to make baskets of homemade goodies this year - brownies, cupcakes, cookies, etc. I am trying to come up with a festive, inexpensive way to wrap them and keep the food fresh. The easiest (yet less-thrifty) method I can think of is red and green cling wrap courtesy of Glad, but I'd really like to do something less expensive. At the same time, I plan to make them several days before Christmas (and gradually), so I don't want the food to get stale/yucky before delivery. Thoughts? TIA!
