Christmas Shopping at the Dollar Stores
Shopping at Christmas has to be the most stressful time of the year for anyone on a budget, spending plan, or other. My tip is this which I borrow from Marlene Alexander in Canada in the Dollar Stretcher under Dollar Stores. Shop for gifts for all at the dollar stores.

To Ship or to Shop?
By Kelly Butterbaugh
I encountered a first today. While ordering gifts on-line I was a surprise during checkout. Here I was prompted with a notification that on top of my shipping charge I would be asked to pay a fuel surcharge. For a moment this perpetual on-line shopper wondered, "Is the shipping worth it?"

Shopping After Holiday Sales
Shop the 'After Christmas' sales (or any other holiday), to buy inexpensive treats or other items that have been marked down for friends or people that you might have forgotten to pick up a gift for. (or stock up for your next gift giving event) . . .

Not Going Into Debt for a Nice Christmas
We have never made much money, so when shopping for the holidays, I check out thrift stores! I used to think that was a terrible thing to do, but you can find so many brand new things with the tags still on them...

Snatch up Christmas craft supplies at dollar stores as soon as they come out. If you wait til closer to the holiday, you might have to go to a craft store and pay full price.

Keep Receipts & Watch For Sale Prices
Have you noticed, it never fails, when you purchase an item it goes on sale at a cheaper price only days later? If you take your register receipt back to customer service, most times they will refund the difference. Check with the stores to find out what time frame that store allows, then make a note of it for future reference. Be as prompt as you can on requesting refunds. I have had as much as $11.00 refunded on a toy that went on sale! Target said they allow two weeks. By Syd
