Cleaning Burn Marks Off Glass Top Stove

I have a white glass top stove and there are dark black burn marks on the top. I have tried every glass top cleaner made in addition to white vinegar, bleach, Soft Scrub, etc. The only thing that remotely works is a sugar cube, but it is scratching a little. I've also tried the Mr. Clean sponge. Does anyone have the cure for my stove top issue? Thanks.

Try using a razor blade. I have a glass top stove also and use the blade all the time to remove those stubborn burnt on marks. It does not scratch the glass top.

Buy Scotch-Brite BLUE scrubbing pads. Make sure to get the "blue" ones, they are non-scratch. GE actually included a sample with my ceramic topped stove. Wet the area and sprinkle generously with baking soda. Scrub away. (09/01/2008)

I second the oven cleaner suggestion. It works even better if you turn the burner on low for just a minute and then turn it off. The surface should be warm, but not so warm that you can't touch it. Then spray on the oven cleaner and let it set for awhile. (If the surface is too warm, the oven cleaner will just evaporate.) Make sure you have your windows open and that others aren't around when you do this. (09/01/2008)

A product called Cameo worked for me. It is an aluminum and stainless steel cleaner. I got it at Walmart. (09/02/2008)

I also have a glass top stove. The stove top cleaner works best for this surface. If you cannot find it, the main ingredient is alcohol. Try letting some plain old rubbing alcohol sit on the marks for 10 to 15 minutes then wash with warm soapy water. Also orange cleaners or lemon juice could be another alternative. Those stubborn burn marks may take a couple of cleanings, letting the cleanser sit for a while makes it come up better. (09/02/2008)

I use baking soda. It's abrasive enough to clean the stove surface, but not abrasive enough to hurt it. It takes a bit of elbow power, but it works for me. (09/02/2008)

All I do to clean my glass top is to turn the burner(s) on high and then scrub with a wet rag and it's gone in a jiffy with no chemical use. I usually easily wipe up everything as soon as I take the pans from the stove during cooking and then don't even have to turn the burners on later to scrub. (09/02/2008)

I have a black glass cook top. I use Weiman cream type cleaner/protectant in a white bottle, also they have scrubbing pads that I use with this to clean stubborn stains. This cleans really good. Just follow directions. The pads come 3 to a package and are red in color. I bought mine at Walmart. Hope this helps. (09/02/2008)

Find a organic store and look for Charlie's Soap. Buy the bottle with the trigger and spray on cook top and leave for 5 minutes. This cleans beautifully, then shine with Windex. Take care. Yes all the other recommendations work, but Charlie's Soap is best.
