Cleaning a lightswitch near a door. Most of us clean house regularly enough, but most of us don't even think about the dirtiest surfaces, that are harboring bacteria and germs! The following are tips on cleaning those spots that get overlooked.

Does it seem like no one in the family can get over a cold or flu and it seems to just keep coming back? Did you know the flu and cold viruses can mutate from person to person so you can keep getting the same bug in different forms? Yep, you can! To help prevent this vicious cycle, a thorough cleaning is necessary.

Some of these cleaning tips were passed down from my mother, who owned her own house cleaning business.

  • switch plates and switches (alcohol wipes)
  • door knobs
  • toilet flush handles
  • soap in pumps (You need to wipe off that top often, especially with kids!)
  • fridge handles and doors (Don't forget that rubber seal around the door. Keeping that clean helps the fridge seal and can save on repairs and electricity!)
  • stove knobs and handles
  • rubber cleaning gloves (Wash them after a job while you are still wearing them like you would wash your hands.)
  • remote controls (alcohol wipes, as it doesn't hurt the electronics and dries fast and clean)
  • faucet handles
  • switches on lamps (alcohol wipes)
  • keyboards and mouse (alcohol wipes)
  • cell phone (daily with alcohol wipes)
  • the bottom of purses (You set those suckers down all over everything all day, then onto the counter or kitchen table. You don't even want to know what comes in on the bottom of those!)
  • washer and dryer doors and knobs (alcohol wipes)
  • vacuum handles and switches (alcohol wipes)
  • broom handles

I am sure once you clean these dirty places, more will come to mind!

WOW! I never would have pegged myself as having OCD, but seeing as how I regularly clean all the places you listed I think I need help :(

LOL .. I know the feeling. The one place I hadn't thought of (and should have) was the broom handle. Somehow that one escaped me.
