Cleaning Oven Racks?

NO...NO..NO! NEVER leave racks in self cleaning ovens! It RUINS their finish PERMANENTLY! WE bought THREE houses where the former owner DID that & ruined the racks for US! IT wasnt until we bought a NEW DOUBLE oven that we finally got shiny, new racks!

I REMOVE them every time, prior to an oven cleaning, & they're still shiny. Even ALL oven manuals say to NOT LEAVE RACKS in oven when self cleaning!

The Temps are MUCH higher than baking or broiling, & a longer amt of time! DON'T RUIN YOUR RACKS! They will turn DULL & UGLY if you DO! There are many tips online how to clean the racks SAFELY! Try the 1 cup amonia method in a garbage bag with your racks inside overnight. I've read a lot about that method. Going to try it tonight!
