Cleaning Steam Iron of Calcium Deposits

My steam iron produces steam poorly. How can I clean the calcium deposits that have formed on the inside? R. Moore

Pour white vinegar in. Let sit about 1 hr. Pour vinegar out. Rinse by repeating with water. You can steam a vinegar/water mix to help the process. Might take more then one try but will dissolve the calcium. Remember to rinse w/ water. Vinegar is acidic. (02/20/2005)

Try to use vinegar inside the iron and let it become hot for a while then you steam it out onto old rag or towel, or any kind of fabrics you want to try out. When you are done , pour it out and use the water to clean it out
Good Luck! (07/14/2005)

You should NOT use vinegar in today's irons, instead let the iron get as hot as it can, switch to the clean iron mode if you have one, if not use highest steam level and heat level together. Place iron on a wire rack in a metal cake pan over a surface not heat sensitive, then use a terry cloth scrap to clean it. (02/17/2006)
