Polishing Metal: Trash To Treasure

After scouring flea markets and yard sales, I've found some fabulous treasures. Metals are often unrealized treasures. Tarnished silver and brass look drab and worthless, but there's treasure to be found under there. Avoid the expensive store-bought polishes and create your own.

Lemon for Cleaning Copper
To clean a copper pot, just wet the pot sprinkle on some salt then cut a lemon in half, rub the pot and, walla, shines very good.

Silver Cleaner
I saw someone on tv once that was using a combination of washing soda, salt and alluminum to clean sterling silver cutlery in seconds. I tried it but it didn't work! Have I got the ratio wrong?

Can I Use Hair Conditioner as a Fabric Softener?
I have 4 gallons of hair conditioner (from a sale at the beauty supply store) and 1 gallon of fabric softener. Can I dilute the hair conditioner and use it in place of fabric softener?
