| Making Shorts from Pants
When you want to cut the legs off worn or too-short pants to make shorts, lay a pair of shorts that are the perfect length over the pants, matching waist band to waist band. Allow about an inch and a half below the legs of the shorts (for the hem) and cut off the pant legs. Now you can turn up and stitch the bottoms to hem, and your new shorts will be the perfect length.

| Fixing A Tank Top That Droops
I have a striped square neck tank top with gray piping that needs a slight modification. The top chest area is 1/2 inch too wide. After an hour, the chest area stretches out and sags. Then it's a good inch too wide and droopy on top. Any suggestions?

| Mend Clothing Right Away
I learned early on, as I learned to sew, to keep small areas on home made or store bought clothes repaired before they got worse. I have known people who never repaired these areas. They would wear the item till it was unrepairable or very obvious, then get something new.

| Using Elastic Instead Of Drawstring In Pants
I have a pair of pants with a drawstring waist. The drawstring opening is very narrow, so it can't be reused for the elastic. I'd like to attach a wider piece of elastic and do away with the drawstring. Suggestions?

| Crayons Fix Nicks in Colored Leather Shoes and Boots
When I was a small child, I remember my mother raiding my crayon box to color in nicks and scuff marks on her brightly colored high heels. Well, these days it may be colored leather tennis shoes, a leather vest or fancy cowboy boots, but the idea still works. (Especially if you have a box of 64 colors!)

| Dye Old Jeans To Look New
We have 5 daughters. As a result, a lot of clothes get passed down as hand me downs. The younger ones complain about the jeans already being faded out. If they are still decent jeans, I don't want to buy more. So, what I do is Rit dye them back. One box of dye will do several pairs of jeans or jean cut offs.

| Replace Snaps With Velcro
Here is just a simple way to save a break out on your child or someone else. I went to Wal-Mart and bought some velcro, the little rounds ones. I place them over the snaps, in back of the snap that close to the body.

I bought a pair of rubber (plastic?) flip-flops from Target that I just love, but they squeak worse than any shoes I have ever owned.

| Re-Dye Lint Covered Black Clothes
When my knit black pants or dress get covered with lint, I don't throw them out. I simply buy some black dye, run through the washing machine and, presto, I'm the only one that knows that the lint has been dyed to match the clothing.
