Sealing Particle Board with Elmer's Glue

I'm sure that I read somewhere that if you mix Elmer's and water you can use it as a sealer for chipboard to seal in smells. It sounds like it would do the job, but I can't remember the mixture (glue to water ratio). Have you heard of this and if so could you give the mixture?

Stainless Steel Vs. Black Cooktop

I have to make a decision on what color cooktop, with sealed burners, to buy. I know stainless steel scratches and looks old before it's time. I'm leaning toward black (thinking it's easier to clean and will keep it's appearance), then I heard black leaves spots/blotches, this after cleaning.
