Save Deadheaded Annuals for Next Year's Seeds
If you have annual flowers that are blooming now, such as zinnias, black eyed susans, asters, four o'clocks, etc., they will bloom better and longer if you deadhead them every few days.

Eat Your Potatoes, Peelings and All
When I peel potatoes, I leave a small amount of the potato on the pealing and place the pieces in a bowl of cold water. I then drain them and pat dry. I place the peelings on a greased pan in a single layer. Sprinkle the peelings with garlic, parsley, paprika, onion powder or any seasoning you may like.

Berry Freezer Jam
On Saturday, June 14, my husband and I went to a farm not far from where we live and picked blackberries for about an hour. As youngsters we both remember picking wild berries with our family on the side of the road. We had to deal with thorns and snakes. It was a joy picking berries at this farm and not having to worry about those situations. The bushes are planted in rows and most are thornless.

Rain Barrels for Practically Free
Make your own rain barrels with what you have, practically free. My husband asked around at local companies and came up with white plastic barrels. The rest he already had in his shop. He then connected them to our gutters and added a spigot at the bottom, to let gravity feed the water out. He connects the water hose to spigot and waters the flowers.

Young Teen Birthday Party Ideas
As the mother of seven, four of which are girls, I have thrown more than my share of parties. Each of my girls have very different ideas, hobbies, and passions. So the party themes are varied as well. Please keep in mind that I do not pick a theme on short notice and I am always looking for new and different ideas. Planning and fore thought make for the most successful parties. The longer you have to plan, the cheaper the event.
