Just in case I am not understanding your question correctly I have added some links at the bottom.
I'm assuming you are asking about whether to dry store bought pasta after it has finished cooking.

Pasta making companies instructions state to drain your pasta and immediately add your sauce. They recommend to not rinse your pasta after cooking unless you plan to make a cold salad because the starch that is on the drained pasta is what makes your sauce adhere to the pasta.
Here is a link that has information from a pasta making company on how to cook their pasta:

In case you or anyone wishes to know about drying homemade pasta here is an excellent link:

When my family used to go camping I liked to dehydrate my noodles so they could be cooked with less water and also cooked very fast. If interested, check out this link:

Straining your noodles of the water is usually recommended when noodles are cooked. This is used with a strainer or as much water pour off as you can if strainer is not available.

This frees your pasta of water and the thinning of any sauce or other ingredients that may be applied to complete the dish.

Just cook, drain, no need to dry them. I would use a little vegetable oil...a teaspoon of so...in the water to keep them from sticking. Enjoy!!

I usually use 4-5 quarts for a pound of pasta. The directions on the bag or box should tell you.

Dried noodles? Egg noodles and "noodles" are made from different ingredients but usually both are cooked about the same way.

Recipes do not usually tell you how much water; they usually just say a large pot of water so you have to guess what they mean by a large pot of water.

I believe they mean to have enough water that noodles move around freely (have lots of room to move) and it is best to have too much (can you get too much?) than too little. Just be sure the water will not overflow.

The average pasta pot size is between 6 and 8 quarts, and it should be filled about 3/4 of the way or about 4-5 quarts with water for 1 pound of pasta.

Follow your recipe for how long to cook as that will vary according to what you will be making with your pasta.
Just be sure your noodles are moving freely.

What I do is cut the cooking instructions from the bag and place in the container with my noodles so that I always know how to cook them.
