Covering Clorox Splashes on Clothing

We all know how Clorox spots ruin clothes, recently I splashed Clorox on my black top. I was going to throw it out, then I thought I would try something. I took a Sharpie pen (black or corresponding color) and carefully dabbed it over the Clorox splash. It worked. So now I will get more wear from my top.

I also bought a decal. I pressed on over the spot and sewed by hand around it with thread. It looks good. I did this with my capris slacks.

Yeah-this works! I've done this before on boots, clothes & even some of my purses & belts. The wede or leather ones. Iron on flowers & other patches work too. I had a nice thin sweater puce colored with medium blue flowers on it. It had gotten some holes in the sleeves-little ones.

I went to look for some blue flowers & found some at The Dollar Tree Luckily! I sewed them on the sleeves where the holes were & on the opposite sleeve I put one down further. It looks new! It's a great way to save $$ & also be creative.

But then you have to do that everytime you wash it

I tried the permanent Sharpie and when I washed
my black sweat shirt the Sharpie came out with the wash.

Hi. Don't know what a Sharpie pen is but I'll check it out on Amazon. Only a few weeks ago I bought a badly needed replacement pair of navy trousers. I just noticed a few marks near the zip & realised I must have somehow splashed bleach on them while putting it down the loo. I'm getting sick & tired of throwing clothes away due to some unknown accidents with paint or bleach.

I'm retired with no job so can't afford this. Irene please can you tell me if the clothing you dabbed can still be washed without the pen ink coming out? Hope you don't have to keep touching it up do you? Thanks.

When you color over bleach stains with permanent marker put the clothing item in brighter lighting you will see a shiney brownish purple color instead of black so stay out of bright lights and no one will ever notice it!

Yes I have been doing this for years. Also works great on black jeans. U will have to redo the permanent marker about once a month ,as washing will fade some .

To everyone with bleach spots on clothing, shoes, etc.----the bleach spots are NOT STAINS. They are places where the bleach has REMOVED the color of the fabric. There are a few possible fixes. Bleach the rest of the fabric, wash it well, then re-dye the item. OR you can try to spot-dye the spots with a matching fabric dye. OR you can try a color matching sharpie pen or fabric paint pen to fill in the bleached spots.

OR you can sew on a decorative patch to cover the spot. OR if you are handy, do some cross stitch or embroidery stitching to make a design that can camouflage the spot (you will probably want to do several in other places too, so it looks like it was meant to be there). Good luck all.
