Craft Project: Decoupaged Heart Box
I had a ceramic, heart-shaped box that I bought at the dollar store years ago but didn't like the color of it. I decided to decoupage over the design using blue and white printed napkins. It gave new life to the box, and I was pleased with the results.

Craft: Cigar Box Decoupage
I get cigar boxes for free at the local newsroom. I subscribe to a few magazines pertaining to things that interest me; ocean beach scenes and seascapes, art and design, photography etc.

Decoupage is the art of pasting paper. Wildly popular during Victorian times, it can be a wonderful way to create many different styles of art. It's also a great way to recycle almost any kind of paper. Here are the basics about the art and a simple project to get you started.

Decoupaged Paperweights
These are so simple and easy and fast. I find pretty pictures from just about every where (copy to size you need) and then just glue on stones, glass stones, sea shells, etc. I always coat with several coats of water resistant varnish.

I know it might seem a little early for Christmas projects but I thought I would post this one early. Here are three different ideas using the same beverage sized napkin.

Decoupaged Mirrors
Buy the framed mirrors at IKEA and decorate. I usually use thin paper such as paper napkins but recently I have started using thin, silk scarves for a somewhat unusual look.

Decoupage Jug
Decoupage Jug. Tear paper bags into pieces. Use Royal Coat Glue starting just inside top of bottle. Go around bottle, leaving handle alone - you can hold onto it this way.
