Craft Project: Two Pictures in One
This is a neat way to display two favorite photos in the same picture.
Craft Project: Hand-Painted Key Holder
Sometimes, our house feels like the "Lost-and-Found Department" of a nearby shopping centre. Everyone's keys are missing and after a thorough search, the keys usually turn up in the most unexpected places. Here is a nice key holder that one can make.
Craft Project: Fabric and Photo Wall Display
Using discarded upholstery fabric, a clearance sale frame, felt, and printer fabric, I created this quilt-inspired wall art.
This snowman can hang on a wall indoors or on an outside door instead of a wreath. It's very easy to make.
I used leftover photos from my scrapbook projects (even cut up pictures can be used). I made a memory wall for my son so he can look at pictures of fun times with friends and relatives everyday. The rest of the family enjoys it too.
Craft Project: Button and Fabric Wall Hanging
With some round disks, buttons, a drill and a wooden placard, you can make this wonderful wall hanging for a gift or to keep.
Use empty kitchen cardboard as a pallet to display favorite fabrics!
Craft Project: Old World "Stucco" Walls
After putting up with dark paneled walls I busted loose and covered them with tissue paper. This is how I did it. It is a long process so I suggest you do one wall at a time.
Deco hole punches are especially nice to have a whole set of in varying sizes. Here, I punched out flowers from both scrap wallpaper and from another roll I picked up at either a thrift shop or rummage sale for $1 each.
Craft Project: Wallpaper Bookcase
A "fool the eye" bookcase made from wallpaper borders. Depending on the size you want your bookcase, cut the border featuring books into pieces of equal length. For the "shelves", cut the wood grain border into narrow strips.
Use inexpensive vinyl wallpaper for accents in your room if there isn't enough for your task. Buy it at thrift shops or rummage sales and get creative !
Craft Project: Stenciled Borders
I stenciled a border in the living room instead of using a wall paper border.
Craft Project: Wine Bottle Glass Art
Recycled colored glass wine bottles, crushed, sifted and glued onto sheets of framed glass to make beautiful pictures that resemble stained glass projects.
Raised Stenciling with Spackle
First, make sure wall is clean or painted the color you wish. Position the stencil to your taste. Decide if you want to use colorant to your joint compound or spackle or if you want to paint it after it is done.
These beautiful wreaths are very popular where I live and can be used year after year. They also make nice gifts. It's a simple project and you need no special talent.
I'm not particularly crafty, but at the end of my pregnancy, I suddenly decided I had to have something with my daughter's name or initials in her room. I didn't like the style or cost of wooden letters, so I made my own wall art while I was off work, waiting for my due date.
This is a photo of a Baby memory wreath my neighbor made for the mother of a precious baby girl she babysat for for nearly the first year of her life. The family moved away and as a gift she made this wreath containing many of the FIRST items she had used.
This is a ruined lace tablecloth that was reincarnated into a wall hanging! I cut a broom handle to fit and painted it. I put the drawer pull on the right end to go with the leaf rod finial on the other - its attached to the wall with 2 cup hooks.
Wall Mountable Custom Decorations
These are super easy to make and only cost about $12.00. I purchased the letters, pre-primered and with holes in the back to hang them, at Target.
Natural materials give your rooms a comfortable, casual feel that's in keeping with today's lifestyle. Bamboo and reeds have a long tradition in Oriental and Polynesian design. They're used to make floor mats, wall hangings, and screens. Often, they're decorated with brush painting in richly colored natural scenes or with carefully hand stroked Chinese or Japanese characters.
