For Valentine's Day, I cut out a decorative arrangement from a glossy magazine (in this case of feathers and ribbon with a cupid, actually) and then mounted it with spray adhesive on some cardboard I had saved.
My husband purchased 3 hearts (4x3 inches) at a craft shop. He knotted them all together with a fancy knot (Sapajou). He put our names on them and surprised me by hanging them on our kitchen door!
This is a way to recycle clear plastic packaging. I created a 3D "love" scene to fit under the plastic packaging. glued it down on mat board, then embellished it with all sorts of odds and ends. I then created an easel on the back so it can be displayed for Valentine's Day.

This can be made for any holiday just by changing fabric, so it's really universal. It's great for using up scraps, too. It's basically strips of fabric that is braided and shaped into a heart.
This candy dish is made from a terra cotta flowerpot saucer. They're available year-round for under $2.00. Use pink, red, or white craft paint to paint a design inside and/or outside the saucer.
For Valentine's Day deco, I punched out hearts with one of my heart punches (about 2 inches long and 1 inch wide) out of red paint chips and glued skewers onto the back of them.
