My Craftsman 18.5 lawn tractor turns over slowly and makes a puff puff sound, but will not start. It also smells like gas. It always started on the first turn. Any suggestions?

If you left gas in the engine or mower the last time you used it, then you have sludge built up in the carburetor. You will need to flush the carburetor and clean out the gas tank. Also change the spark plug on this.
