I use a peeled strip from a cucumber, the green skin. Lay it down where they are. It works even when dried up. Does not harm pets or children.

I have ants in my kitchen but the nest is in the outside wall. But so far we are getting there. Then I used the cucumber skin and put it all around where they were coming in and it has work. Or a slice of lemon works. Every year they seem to come out when it's hot
