First you have to decide if you want a bold or conservative look. Another thing to consider is if the curtains will play a part in keeping the room cool and dark in the summer or if you would like them to be able to allow more light to come through during the winter. I personally like baby blue and red for a bold look or even blue and orange but if bold is not your thing a light cream color or white is pretty so is very pale yellow. If your wanting the room darker a coffee color matches baby blue well.
