Cut Lotion Bottle To Use All

When my hand and body lotion finishes, and I have pumped until I can't pump no more. I cut the body lotion container in half with a knife. I scoop out the lotion that left over, which is a lot. I put it in a small container (example: empty plastic baby food containar with a lid that I can open easily). I can use the leftover lotion at least for another month.

Oh boy, this is so true! A young co-worker told me this in '08 and looked shocked that I hadn't thought of it myself. He even cut the toothpaste tube, and once I started doing the same I was amazed at how much is left in the tubes of lotions and pastes that we think empty.

Great tip! I have been doing this for ages. My husband thought I was nuts till he saw how much was left in a bottle or tube. I also do it for squeeze bottles of mustard, BBQ sauce, etc. Just be careful when cutting the bottles since some can be tough to cut.

I love this tip. I'm not skilled enough to use a knife on the lotion bottle. I have to it the wimpy way, but it gets the job done. I have a pretty wide-mouthed jar I use for the lotion leftovers. I take off the pump or lid and turn the bottle upside down over the pretty jar until all falls into the jar. Sometimes it can take a day or two.

I also learned the toothpaste trick on this site. I use a binder clip to keep the cut end closed until I use it all. This keeps the toothpaste fresh so it doesn't dry out. You're so right, it is amazing how much lotion and toothpaste are left after you can't get anymore from the opening.

Thank you. Cutting the bottle worked great. I put the rest of the lotion in a smaller flip top bottle.
