I am in sooo much pain. I have an ear ache. I'm taking amoxicin (spelling) I'm also laying on a heating pad. Does any one have fast relief for this pain.

Try a few drops of Ambesol (used for a toothache). Years ago my Dr. told me to try that for an ear ache. It worked. A couple of drops in affected ear. It numbs the pain the same as it numbs a toothache. (07/16/2005)

When I was a child we lived in a remote area where no doctors were available. My parents used the following home remedy, which I later used for my children. A pediatrician said it's not harmful at all.
Wrap black pepper in a clean white cloth, like a handerchief, making a little ball, about the size of the tip of your thumb. Used a rubber band or string to tie it. Dip into hot coffee, squeeze excess out, then cool enough not to burn. Insert this into the ear for pain relief. This saved us from many a night of agony. I hope it helps you. (07/16/2005)

You might want to try Echinacea (found in the herbal medicines of most pharmacies/discount stores). It won't help immediately, but it should start to feel better in about a day. I never had earaches as a kid, but several years ago I started getting really bad ones just in one ear. Antibiotics took five days before I felt any relief at all.

Please see an ear specialist. I had been doctoring for months with antibiotics and when I asked to see a specialist, he told me I had a fungus infection and I have been seeing him regularly every 3 months and he cleans my ear out and put some ointment in and I have been pain free since. I had so much pain it even hurt to smile or chew my food.Good Luck! I was also told every time I wash my hair to put vaseline on cotton and plug my ears. Iam not to get water in my ears. (07/16/2005)

My son had an earache once and we happened to be in a Walmart store, so I went over to the pharmacy to ask what would help the pain. The pharmacist suggested a couple of drops of sweet oil. We purchased some right then with a dropper and put a couple drops in his ear and the pain stopped almost immediately.

Last year I had a horrible earache for days, my ears were really plugged as well. The pharmacist did recommend sweet oil, which helped. I also got myself an ear wax flush system (with the hydrogen peroxide drops and squeeze-syringe-thing). It seems that this helped a great deal, along with prayer (God really is merciful!); within a few days, the pain went away and my hearing was restored. But I would say, if this all does not work within a few days for you, definitely see your doctor. (07/17/2005)

Sadly I put a couple drops of hot oil in my ear. Doctors are horrified and this is dangerous so I wont tell you how to do it. Stops the ear ache within 60 seconds though. Another method is fill a tablespoon with half witch hazel and alcohol to try to kill infection before you can see a doctor. Alcohol is bad because it will dry the canal out but it helps kill some bacteria until you can get antibiotic drops. Once you get a subscription for ear drop antibiotics, it lasts a very long time if kept in the fridge and works on dogs too. If your ear is draining you have a bad infection caused by blockage. A few drops of hydrogen peroxide works well. It kills any bacteria and turns into water after it is done fizzing. Wait until it stops fizzing, then turn your head so the ear can drain. It's also a great cold remedy and kills the cold when you are just starting to come down with one. I wrote to a doctor at the University of Washington who recommends this. I'd recommend this over alcohol or oil in the ear.

I'm a 19year old university student. At 1am, I was rudely awoken by the most intense pain I've ever felt. Any sudden head jerk seemed to send a sharp wave of pain straight through me. All I could hear was a beating/throbbing sound in my left ear. Sheer agony. Take paracetemol to dull the pain, along with ibuprofen to reduce the inflammation. Taking a combination of guaifenesin and a decongestant (like Mucinex + decongenstant) may help unblock the ear canal. Also you can take up to 800 mg of ibuprofen at a time 3 times a day. (05/14/2007)

I'm 15 years old and I have this horrible ear ache. At first I just had a sore throat which I think is strep throat. But now I have the ear ache and I'm inconsolable. Its in my right ear. Try sitting upright first. This will help the ear drain. Then try holding a blow dryer (ON LOW) 16-18 inches away from the ear.

Can someone please HELP me! For the past few days my right ear has been bothering me. It would pop at times, for example when i would yawn or blow my nose.But that has stopped now. The problem is now that I cant hear. My ear is BLOCKED. I started to feel a earache coming on and my friend told me to take peroxide and a eye dropper and put it in the ear that was bothering me and It really helped! I could hear popping and cracking in my ear and two days later my ear didn't hurt at all. Now, I still did get sick, but I didn't have the earache anymore! Take a cotton ball and soak it in mouthwash. It will take away the pain. Do not use alcohol! The mouthwash might sting a lil bit, but WORKS, and totally worth it! Also, go to an ears nose and throat doctor, they work wonders. (03/17/2008)

5ml of Hidrogen Peroxide inside the ear cannal for 3-5min will usually aleviate an earache caused by a cold or flu. Any earache caused by infection (pus in ear or glands) will require antibiotics and anti inflammatory medication; Do not hesitate to consult your physician for proper medication.
