Eczema Relief

My sister has eczema on her scalp which produces a lot of white flakes. Does anyone know what she can use to stop the flaking and itchiness?

Wet your head and pour a little Listerine on and rub it in. I use it all the time, especially in the winter. Just be real careful about getting it in your eyes. (07/01/2007)

I have done it all. Every thing that has been suggested here. I even went to a skin specialist. I looked things up on the internet, and some one said it could be a yeast infection on my scalp. Two months ago I started using Nizoral. I got it at Wal-Mart, I got a small bottle, in the beginning I didn't think it was working. The 3rd week my scalp was clear, no more flakes, or itching. So now I am on my second bottle. It says not to use it all the time after your scalp is better. Hope this will help you. It sure has been good for me. (07/17/2007)

Apple cider vinegar. I poured about 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar and 2-4 cups of water into a bowl and then dunked my scalp into it. Before that, I'd tried massaging it into my scalp or pouring it over my scalp with a measuring cup. Dunking my head worked the best.

After dunking right before bed, I'd wrap my head in a towel to soak up the wet, unwrap my hair and then relax in bed until it dried. The next day, I would wash out my hair and scalp to remove the flakes the developed over night.

Dandruff is caused by a fungus or yeast. The vinegar kills the yeast. The raw apple cider vinegar "with the mother" is the best kind to get and is avail in most health food stores. (08/23/2008)

Put a few drops of Tea Tree Oil in her shampoo bottle. Use every day till it gets her condition settled. Then only use when her scalp starts getting itchy. I use my "special shampoo" about once or twice a week. Good luck. (11/27/2008)
