Electrical Circuit Problem?

When I switch my living room light on the kitchen light goes out and when I switch the kitchen light on the living room light comes on very dull. I've checked wiring on the ceiling lights and everything looked OK. Both light switches are single switches. I would be very grateful if anyone has any ideas has to what the problem could be. Thanks.

The kitchen light fixture should have a switch leg (hot) and a neutral. The neutral on your kitchen fixture is tied to the hot of your living room fixture (instead of the neutral).
