Ellie Mae is a 12 year old Yorkshire Terrier and Toy Poodle mix. We got Ellie Mae when she was just a tiny bundle of fur at 7 weeks of age. We drove 5 hours to get her. On the way back home, she climbed up inside my sweater, and ended up inside my sleeve at my wrist.
Ellie's favorite thing is retrieving balls (Poodles are natural retrievers). She won't let us have the balls back until she decides it's time for them to get thrown for her again. I love it when she cocks her head at us when we talk to her. It is like she is understanding everything we say. I must say that her breed is very intelligent.
Ellie Mae was extremely easy to house train, and she's not yappy like a lot of other small breed dogs. She only barks if something is really worth barking at, like a strange dog or bear - yes, a bear - on our sun deck.
Awww, what an adorable face she has. thank you for sharing the cute pix of your fur-baby.
What a cutie and I love her name! :-)
Oh. How precious, such a little darling, makes me want to just hug her and squeeze her. So tiny, and the name suits her.
I bet that baby into everything. So cute. Cookie 17.
She has one of the cutest doggie faces I've ever seen! You can see she's so alert & intelligent. Enjoy your Ellie Mae & thanks for sharing her story & picture!

Ellie Mae is 12 years old and a Yorkshire Terrier/Toy Poodle mix. We got Ellie Mae when she was 7 weeks old, in 2000. She was so small, she fit into my young son's baseball cap.
The city we bought Ellie from was 5 hours away from home. I put her under my sweat shirt to keep her warm on the long car ride home. By the time we got home, she'd climbed (under my sweatshirt) up past my chest and found her way down the arm of my sleeve. She ended up near my wrist, lol.
Her most favorite play activity is fetching tiny balls or small stuffed toys. She also loves being at our cottage stalking the resident squirrels. She is the most intelligent dogs we've ever owned. Ellie tips her head off to the sides when we talk to her and I know she listens to our conversations. I say this because Ellie loves my girl friend Sherry, and she often looks up at me with searching eyes when I mention Sherry's name. We love Ellie dearly, and hope she continues to live a long healthy life.
