This makes a wonderful, moist cake suitable for any occasion!
Ingredients:
1/2 cup soft shortening
2 cups sugar (1 cup brown and 1 cup white)
1 lg. egg
1 1/2 cups applesauce
2 1/2 cups sifted flour
1 12/ tsp. baking soda
1 1/2 tsp. salt
3/4 tsp. cinnamon
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
1/2 cup water
1/2 cup chopped nuts, opt.
1 cup raisins, chopped
Directions:
Cream shortening and sugar until fluffy; add egg and applesauce. Add dry ingredients, alternately with water. Add nuts and raisins. Bake 45-50 minutes in 350 degree F oven in 9x13 inch pan.
