Finches Not Sitting on Eggs?

So I had the same problem...And I was honestly terrified. So here is my story, I came home one day to find egg shells at the bottom of the cage, at the time I had no nest because I didn't intend on breeding. So I put a nest in, Somewhere in the night, or early morning they laid 1 egg.

I looked in the cage and my female, Flew out with her wings open. Hasn't sat on them for days, But a new egg would come everyday. After she laid all her eggs she began to sit on them, They can stay fertile for a week.
