Finding Free Beds and Dressers?

I need help to get three (3) twin size mattresses, box springs, and frames for my three boys. Their dad passed away and we have nothing anymore. We need three small dressers and one double size bed for myself. I have spine problems and I have to have spine surgery soon. I have had one life threatening spine surgery already at University of Maryland. We live in Aberdeen Maryland. I can't find help anywhere. Any suggestions?

Is your church aware of your situation? Also, if you use a food pantry, make the workers aware of your situation. Some of the volunteers also help with other groups and they may have info to share with you on sources.

I am sorry to hear.

You could check Craigslist > Under For Sale > Free. If you do not find anything you could post Wanted.

I know it sounds icky, but it's amazing how many free beds and mattresses you find on the side of the road. I myself have salvaged a lot of furniture off the street though blessedly I've not been in the position of needing beds free.

All the above ideas are great, but if no one comes thru, you can also

1) reach out to individuals doing yard sales, especially on the last hour of the sale. Al least fifty percent of the time folks have furniture to sell, and at the end of the sale they want to unload the cumbersome items that didn't sell. If you don't want to visit every yard sale you can always call beforehand

2) put notices at storage units. People emptying storage units often have a lot of trouble unloading things like mattresses and beds.

If you do get a used bed, pleAse do all you can to prevent being bedbug infested by rejecting beds with signs of infestation
