Recycled Aluminum Can for Flour Measuring
I make a lot of homemade bread so I buy flour in bulk. To make measuring easier I keep a mandarin orange can in my flour container. It measures 2 cups and has grooves inside at the 1/2 and 1 cup level.

Fresh Baked Bread Had Plastic-Like Taste
I just baked some bread last night using yeast and it had a funny plastic-like aftertaste sprinkled throughout the loaf. What could be the cause? I kneaded it by hand and baked it in the oven.

Breadmaker Tips
If you use a breadmaking machine as I do, here are a few tips that help me. Firstly, once a week I measure out my dry ingredients in large recycled (coffee) jars so I have enough bread mixes to last me a week.

Perfect Quick Bread Loaf
I have come up with an easy method to making the perfect quick bread loaf (banana bread, zucchini bread, etc). Before pouring your batter into the loaf pan, whether its glass or dark coated, line the inside of the pan with aluminum foil.

Make Bread for the Birds With Old Flour
I found an old 5 pound bag of wheat flour that got lost in the back of the pantry. Not wanting to waste it I used it in my bread machine and made loaves of bread to put out for the birds.

Save Money By Baking Your Own Bread
One way to save quite a bit on food is to learn your way around baking yeast. You can find a whole pound of it for about $2.50 at little shops or places that sell in bulk and you use it a tablespoon at a time - it lasts for months in the refrigerator.

To Whoever Has Chanced Upon This Bottle: I am stranded on a deserted island somewhere in the tropics. I am as well as the circumstances justify, thank you very much. After all, I consider myself somewhat of a minimalist anyway, inherently resourceful and inventively frugal.
