Rehydrating Beans in Hard Water
Any tips to rehydrate dried beans in hard water? I tried a tsp of table salt, but no luck. I soak over night, but they stay hard. Cooking and cooling doesn't work either. Thanks and God bless.

Keeping Soaked Beans Handy
Bulk beans are so much cheaper than buying canned beans, it always takes a little planning though, and in the past I'd always forget. Not anymore, I have a big yogurt container boldly marked "BEANS" that I keep filled with soaking beans in the refrigerator all the time.

Lupini Beans
I love lupini beans! I used to be able to buy them dried at local stores but can't find them anymore. Does anyone know where I can buy them? They are so delicious after you cook and soak them salted for several days. They remind me of nuts.

Do dried beans actually work out any cheaper than tinned beans when you factor in the gas/electric used to cook them?

A Cooler Way to Cook Beans
A Cooler Way to Cook Beans. To be frugal and healthy, we eat a lot of dried beans and legumes. Each week, I cook up a batch of one of the many different varieties available. The only problem is, beans can take 2-3 hours to cook. . .

How to cook with dried beans?
I have used dried beans in slow-cooker recipes for chili that cook all day, but would like to learn how to cook them for soups that don't take all day to cook.

Less Meat, More Beans, Grains and Rice
A good way to cut down on your grocery bill is to eat more recipes containing beans, grains and rice instead of meat. Beans, grains and rice are much less expensive per pound than most kinds of meat.
