Converting Cooking Time from Slow Cooker to Oven
Does anyone know if there is a formula to convert slow cooker cooking times to those for the oven? For example, if a recipe calls for 8 hours in the slow cooker, how long and at what temperature would I cook it in the oven? Thanks.

Use Your Crockpot as an Oven
I found I am able to use my crock pot as an oven. I have been trying EVERYTHING in: acorn squash, yellow squash, zucchini, potatoes, yams, etc. - without any water. Often I leave some things like acorn squash, yams, and potatoes in the crock overnight - on the low setting.

Cook Tapioca In Your Crockpot
I have tried twice this week to cook Tapioca on the stove top without burning it. Failed both times. Tried it in the Crock-Pot and, Bravo, got it. That's the way to go and you don't have to stir it as much. But you need to check it every now and then in case you need to add more liquid.

Use a Lamp Timer With Your Crock Pot
Use a lamp timer when cooking with a crock pot and think you don't need the meal to cook all day. Use the lamp timer to start the meal while you are away. Or, do the opposite and use the timer to stop cooking so the meal will not overcook.

Using the Slow Cooker in Hot Weather
It is 96 degrees and humid today, so I took out my trusty slow cooker this morning. Cooking in the slow cooker keeps my kitchen cooler, plus the whole meal can be cooked in one container. My slow cooker is great for less tender cuts of meat, which are less expensive to purchase.
