Keeping Track of What Is in Your Freezer
I keep track of items in my freezer by using a dry erase marker and writing directly on the outside of the freezer door what I have inside. The pens come in 4 colors so I have 1 color for a 4 month rotation of food.

Keep an Inventory List of Your Freezer Contents
Make a list of the food in your freezer and type into a word processing program on your computer. Remember to use a print that is easy to read; Times News Roman is an easy to read print.

Freeze Leftover Liquids in Empty Water Bottles
To save leftover broth or juice that is about to expire, or any sauces or juices that you want to save; use your empty water bottles. This will work great for Thanksgiving, when you are making broth from the very last remnants of the turkey.

Double Bag to Prevent Freezer Burn
I love using zip lock bags for freezing meats and sauces, but do not like the expense. I also double the bags when freezing to prevent freezer burn. So, I first put the sauce or meat into a recycled plastic or waxed bag, and close it with tape or twist tie.

Minimizing Freezer Burn
Freezer "burn" is caused by air getting into freezer containers. Unless you vacuum seal, there will be air in any container. Any small air space will cause freezer "burn". The longer the item is kept in the freezer, the more freezer "burn" there will be.

Freeze Jar Extras in Ice Cube Trays
This one is really easy. Once you have opened a large jar of a product, usually it goes into the refrigerator, and sometimes spoils if you do not use it quickly enough.

Freezing a Test Portion of Food
If you are ever left wondering whether or not a particular food can be frozen or not, take just a little bit of it and freeze it. Then try it to see if it's ok. This way you won't ruin a whole dish of something if it can't be frozen.
