One of the best ways to save money on your meat bill is to find a food store that has a pick 5 meat program, you can but any 5 meat items for $19.99. Look for the packages that run $5.00 or more if you were going to buy off the pick 5. you can save as much as $5.00 to $6.00 buying a pick 5

Buying Nuts at Wholesale Prices
I am looking for a source for pistachios and other nuts that costs less than $4 a pound. Does anyone know of a mail order or internet company that offers nuts at "super wholesale" prices? I currently buy them from Costco but was wondering if there was possibly a more inexpensive source. The best I can get on pistachios is a little under $4 a lb, pecans are about the same. Someone here has to know.

Shop Alone to Save Money
For the month of November I did my grocery shopping without my husband, wow I did save money! I did not take into consideration the number of extra items he added to the cart! I am sure it would be helpful to leave home any extra people when grocery shopping, kids, husbands, grandchildren, etc.

"Fresh and Easy" Neighborhood Market for Grocery Discounts
If you live in the Phoenix or Las Vegas area, or in SoCal, there is an amazing market chain called "Fresh and Easy". Shopping there has slashed our food bills by 75%, plus we're eating healthier than ever before (much of it is organic, free range and no hormones added).

Ask Butcher To Make Sale Roasts Into Ground Beef
Every few weeks the different grocery markets have London broil and top round roasts on sale for $1.79-$1.99 per pound. What I do is go to the butcher at the market and tell him/her that I want 10 or 15 or 20 pounds of the roasts made into ground meat. I do this all of the time.

Use Sales Ads at a Competing Store
Use Sale Ads to your advantage. When one store has a sale that is really good, they will often run out of stock. Take the ad to a competitor and they will often price match for you.

Frozen Foods at Dollar Tree
I recently found that my local Dollar Tree carries high quality brand name frozen foods. I got Green Giant steam in the bag vegetables for a dollar a pack, which is much less expensive than at my local supermarket. They also have garlic bread, Italian ice, and waffles. I checked to make sure they were not from a shady second rate place, or iffy foreign country. The quality has been every bit as good as what I get at the market.

My Frugal Life: Surviving On Social Security
I'm retired due to a disability, but because of the career I chose, I have no retirement fund and no pension and must live on Social Security alone. Therefore, frugality has become my middle name. Here in west Michigan, our supermarkets offer remarkable savings every week. They love to BOGO (buy one, get one free!).

Play Your Ipod While Grocery Shopping
I have hated going to the grocery store recently. I keep getting depressed with the high prices! I went today after I went for my morning walk at the track. I continued to listen to my music with one earpiece of my iPod in. I could still hear if my phone rang or someone talked to me but I could enjoy my music. I was in a better mood and came away in a better frame of mind - and savings.

Donate Sale Items to Charities
When grocery stores offer buy one, get one free deals, take the "free" items to your local Hope ministries, food bank, homeless shelter, etc. You are making a great contribution and you really won't miss the money this way.
