Substitute for Chocolate Chips in Recipes
Could anyone give me some suggestions please? I see so many recipes using chocolate chips and I get so frustrated, because I would love to try them out. However, I can't because where I live chocolate chips or drops are, for some obscure reason, horribly expensive.

Add Mackerel to Salmon Patties
When making salmon patties, sometimes one can of salmon will not make enough for my needs. Instead of buying another can of salmon, I mix in a can of jack mackerel (right next to tuna and salmon at the grocery).

Use Lemon Juice in Salad Dressings
Out of salad dressing and vinegar, too? Just substitute lemon juice for the vinegar and mix with olive or vegetable oil and add your favorite herbs and/or spices :-)

Use Dry Milk for Cooking
For the past several months, I have been buying organic milk, which is more expensive then non organic milk. Since I use milk in many of my recipes, gravy, baking and sauces, I now buy the least expensive dry milk available and keep it on hand for everything else.
